Ministry of Health Affirms Government Vaccines Cannot be used for Mutual Cooperation Vaccines

The Ministry of Health emphasized that the Covid-19 vaccine that was set by the government for mass vaccination could not be used for mutual cooperation vaccine programs or vaccines carried out by companies.
"Gotong royong vaccines must be different from program vaccines. So Sinovac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Novavax vaccines will not be used in mutual cooperation vaccines," said Director of Prevention and Control of Direct Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi. related to the provisions contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Health no. 18 of 2021. In an official statement explaining the regulation, the Ministry of Health said it gave permission to use the COVID-19 vaccine in the government's vaccination program and mutual cooperation vaccination. Nadia said that what was meant in the statement was that the government's vaccination program could use vaccines used in the mutual cooperation vaccination program, but not vice versa. For example, he said, when the government received a vaccine grant from a brand other than the one specified for the government's vaccination program, the vaccine could be used for government vaccinations.

Additional Vaccines Arrive in Quarter III

PT Bio Farma expects additional Covid-19 vaccines to meet the needs of 70% of Indonesia's population to arrive in the third quarter of 2021.
Spokesman and Corporate Secretary of PT Bio Farma (Persero) Bambang Heriyanto said the company is seeking additional vaccines from various schemes. From the multilateral scheme, according to him, a vaccine is sought from the WHO Covax/GAVI agency. "Meanwhile, bilaterally, additional vaccines are sought from Astrazeneca, Novavax, and Sinopharm for the Mutual Cooperation Vaccination program," he said, in total Indonesia has received around 76 million Covid-19 vaccine doses from three manufacturers, namely Sinovac and Sinopharm from China, and Astrazeneca from the UK. From 81.5 million bulk doses of Sinovac, he continued, 65.5 million doses of the finished vaccine will be processed, then 6.4 million doses of Astrazeneca vaccine, 1 million doses of Sinopharm, and 3 million doses of Coronavac. In other words, Indonesia already has nearly 76 million doses of vaccine. This ensures that the company's Covid-19 vaccine supply is sufficient to realize the government's target in the national vaccination program. According to the latest data from the Covid-19 Task Force, only 18 million Indonesians have received the Covid-19 vaccine. This figure is still far from the target set by the government in early January 2021. Until early 2022, the government targets to vaccinate 181.6 million or 70% of the population.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Reveals INDONESIA's Strategy to Reach Carbon Neutral Target by 2060

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif revealed a number of long-term strategies in the energy sector to be able to achieve the target of carbon neutral or net zero emission (free of carbon emissions) by 2060.
"In the energy sector, we are targeting to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 or faster with international assistance with a number of strategies. First, through the development of massive new and renewable energy (EBT)," said Arifin in a webinar entitled "Indonesia-Norway Investment Opportunities in Hydro and Solar Energy in Indonesia" organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo, Monday. EBT development includes solar panels, wind, biomass, geothermal, hydropower, marine, hydrogen, as well as Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Another strategy is to reduce the utilization of fossil energy sources by "co-firing" biomass and retiring steam power plants (PLTU) and gas and steam power plants (PLTGU). "The last PLTU will be terminated in 2058 and the PLTGU in 2054," he said. During that period, it was noted that no new PLTU was allowed, unless it already had a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) or was under construction.

Regarding Fintech, LPS Boss Calls Strong Supervision Very Needed

Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa
assesses the importance of strengthening regulations and supervision of financial technology or fintech to protect national consumers. He said the accelerated growth of the fintech industry resulted in a disruption to the pattern of public credit or loans. If previously people chose to borrow from banks, then with the existence of fintech, everyone can get loans more easily from online platforms. "To protect the interests of consumers, a strong regulatory and supervisory approach is needed, such as using Regulatory Technology (RegTech)," he said. "Rather than a guarantee program that requires several prerequisites to reduce potential risks," he added. He explained, Regtech is one way to anticipate fintech violations by utilizing data-based technology or data bases, artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence to blockchain. Thus, supervision of governance, transactions, compliance to reporting obligations can be faster and easier. Several banks in Indonesia are said to have upgraded their digital platforms to improve user experience and customer loyalty, while increasing their efficiency.
