Additional Vaccines Arrive in Quarter III

PT Bio Farma expects additional Covid-19 vaccines to meet the needs of 70% of Indonesia's population to arrive in the third quarter of 2021.
Spokesman and Corporate Secretary of PT Bio Farma (Persero) Bambang Heriyanto said the company is seeking additional vaccines from various schemes. From the multilateral scheme, according to him, a vaccine is sought from the WHO Covax/GAVI agency. "Meanwhile, bilaterally, additional vaccines are sought from Astrazeneca, Novavax, and Sinopharm for the Mutual Cooperation Vaccination program," he said, in total Indonesia has received around 76 million Covid-19 vaccine doses from three manufacturers, namely Sinovac and Sinopharm from China, and Astrazeneca from the UK. From 81.5 million bulk doses of Sinovac, he continued, 65.5 million doses of the finished vaccine will be processed, then 6.4 million doses of Astrazeneca vaccine, 1 million doses of Sinopharm, and 3 million doses of Coronavac. In other words, Indonesia already has nearly 76 million doses of vaccine. This ensures that the company's Covid-19 vaccine supply is sufficient to realize the government's target in the national vaccination program. According to the latest data from the Covid-19 Task Force, only 18 million Indonesians have received the Covid-19 vaccine. This figure is still far from the target set by the government in early January 2021. Until early 2022, the government targets to vaccinate 181.6 million or 70% of the population.
