Research proves luxury car drivers tend to be arrogant on the road

A psychological study published in the journal PNAS in 2012 revealed that upper-class individuals are more likely to act unethically than lower-class individuals.
There are several studies that run parallel to this research, one of which is how high-end individuals behave in cars. It was observed that drivers in luxury cars tended to cut the line before crossing, rather than waiting for their turn. In addition, research results also show that these upper-class drivers tend to cut off pedestrians trying to cross intersections. In a different study, Jan-Erik Lönnqvist, Professor of Psychology at the University of Helsinki, observed that luxury car drivers tend to be selfish, ignore pedestrian rights, and are more likely to violate traffic rules. The study by Lönnqvist surveyed nearly 2000 car owners in Finland. The car owner was asked about the brand of the car, driving habits and total wealth. Then the study continued with personality assessment using a five-factor model. This study concludes that individuals who drive aggressively, arrogantly, and often violate traffic rules often come from among those with luxury cars. Professor Lönnqvist says that this trend is not particularly pronounced among female luxury car owners. He assumed that women saw cars less as a status symbol.
