Government Extends PPKM Outside Java and Bali

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the government had again extended the implementation of the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) outside Java and Bali until January 31, 2022.
"The extension was carried out for the next 14 days from January 18 to January 31, 2022," Airlangga said in a virtual press conference held monitored in Jakarta, Sunday. The number of districts and cities implementing PPKM level 1 or the loosest level increased from 227 to 238 districts and cities, PPKM level 2 decreased from 148 to 138, PPKM level 3 remained 10, and no more districts and cities implemented PPKM level 4 The public is asked to continue to comply with health protocols considering that the spread of COVID-19, especially the new Omicron variant, still needs to be watched out for. Currently the government is also preparing the Red and White vaccine and other domestically produced vaccines to increase the supply of COVID-19 vaccinations which are expected to be used starting in the second semester of 2022. On the same occasion, Airlangga said that Jokowi's resident also approved the addition of Moto GP viewers from 63 thousand to 100 thousand. At the same time vaccination at the Motor GP event site in Mandalika has achieved a high first dose vaccination rate.
