Chandra Tjan and Alpha JWC Ventures Clarification Report Ubedilah Badrun
Chandra Tjan and Alpha JWC Ventures conveyed the right to answer and clarify the news regarding Ubedilah Badrun who reported two of President Joko Widodo's children, Gibran Rakabuming and Kaesang Pangarep, to the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK.
Ubedilah explained that the report submitted was based on the findings of the business relationship of the president's two children that could potentially lead to acts of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN), which mentioned Alpha JWC Ventures. Through a letter sent by the legal team, Juniver Girsang and Partners, Chandra Tjan and Alpha JWC Ventures denied Ubedillah Badrun's report. In his right to answer, Juniver said it was not true that in 2019 Chandraj Tjan served as Managing Partner at East Ventures. Chandra Tjan founded and led East Ventures from 2009 to 2015. After leaving East Ventures, Chandra Tjan founded Alpha JWC in 2015. With this fact, Chandra Tjan no longer has any relationship with East Ventures, especially with SMDV and Japan Yahoo Corp which invested the funds to East Ventures. That the entry, Alpha JWC invested US$ 5 million in Goola, a beverage company owned by Kaesang and Gibran, in 2019 is purely a business consideration. This investment started with the introduction of Alpha JWC with Benz Budiman, one of the founders of Goola who at that time was raising investment funds. After doing their due diligence, Alpha JWC decided to invest gradually in Goola. With this investment, Alpha JWC is a minority shareholder in Goola, with the largest shareholders being the company's founders, namely Kevin Susanto, Gibran Rakabuming, and Benz Budiman. Junimart said Alpha JWC's investment in Mangkokku in 2020 is also purely a business consideration.
