Discourse on Special Entity for Coal DMO Suppliers: Parliament Await Input from Government
Commission VII of the DPR RI proposes a new entity to ensure domestic coal supply.
However, the DPR is still waiting for input from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). Deputy Chairman of Commission VII Eddy Soeparno said that at this time the parliament did not know the details of this entity. Although it was submitted at a hearing last week, the DPR is still waiting for stakeholder input. "We are still waiting for comprehensive input and clarity from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," During the meeting, member of Commission VII DPR Muhammad Nasir said that this formulation would be determined in more detail between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and associations. Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, had proposed the concept of a public service agency (BLU) to ensure the supply of DMO. He said this BLU has the same function as the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) in supporting the B30 project. Later, PLN will be asked to buy coal from miners at the market price. Then the difference will be returned from the BLU quote for each company. “This company, of course, has its classification. The low calorie will be charged per ton, the high will be charged per ton. The point is that everything will be subject to that obligation," he explained.
